We spent at least 4 weeks at co-working spaces in each city. Speed tests, community quality, pricing, and the ones worth paying for - all in one guide.
Internet speed is only half the story. The best co-working spaces give you a community, a daily structure, and the kind of energy that makes you actually want to work. The worst are expensive cafés with Wi-Fi and an industrial aesthetic. We tested both extremes.
We spent at least 4 full working weeks at co-working spaces in each city - testing download and upload speeds, community quality, reliability, and the intangibles that only time reveals.
Bali - Canggu
Dojo Bali - Our Top Pick
The gold standard of nomad co-working globally. 400 Mbps symmetric fibre. 24/7 access. Pool. Daily community events. A waiting list that means the community self-selects for committed nomads.
- Speed: 380 Mbps down / 400 Mbps up
- Day pass: $15 | Monthly: $180
- Best for: Founders, engineers, long-term stays
- Rating: 9.5 / 10
Outpost - The Ubud Alternative
Better for those wanting a quieter Ubud location. Strong community programming. Unlimited coffee. The rooftop in Ubud is exceptional for late afternoon sessions.
- Speed: 200 Mbps down / 180 Mbps up | Monthly: $200 | Rating: 8 / 10
Chiang Mai, Thailand
CAMP at Maya Mall - The Budget Legend
The classic Chiang Mai nomad spot. Cheap, in a mall food court, reliable fibre, and always full of interesting people. Membership: essentially free if you buy one drink every few hours. Nothing globally comparable for budget-conscious nomads.
Alt_ChiangMai - The Premium Option
Private desks, podcast studio, sleeping pods, rooftop with Doi Suthep mountain views. 500 Mbps. The community is active, quality-first, and smaller than you'd expect for a city this size.
- Speed: 480 Mbps down / 450 Mbps up | Monthly: $150 | Rating: 9 / 10
Lisbon, Portugal
Second Home at LX Factory - The Beautiful One
Stunning interior - a converted factory with trailing plants and warm lighting. Excellent for networking but expensive at €350+/month. Best for those on EU-level income who value design and connections over value.
Heden - Our Lisbon Favourite
Smaller, community-led, superb espresso, and a consistent startup energy. The best-value premium option in Lisbon.
- Speed: 310 Mbps down / 280 Mbps up | Monthly: €160 | Rating: 9 / 10

The best co-working space isn't the fastest or the cheapest - it's the one where you do your best work. Sit down, open your laptop, and notice how you feel after 90 minutes. That's your answer.
