We built FutureLife to change that. How the Future Life Score works
Every country on FutureLife receives an FL Score out of 100 - a weighted composite of six pillars chosen specifically for expats, remote workers, and international movers. The formula is fully transparent and applied consistently across all 151 countries.
Healthcare quality, happiness index, wellbeing, public services, work-life balance
Rent, food, transport, utilities - budget and mid-range tiers
Crime index, political stability, expat security reports
English proficiency, expat community, culture, food scene, connectivity
Internet speed, startup ecosystem, remote-work infrastructure
Ease of obtaining long-stay, nomad, retirement, and investor visas
Scoring formula
Each pillar is scored 0–100. The final score is rounded to the nearest integer. Pillar weights reflect what matters most to people relocating abroad - quality of life carries the highest weight because healthcare, happiness, and wellbeing are the foundation of a fulfilling move. Cost and safety follow as universal concerns.
Where our data comes from
FutureLife aggregates data from authoritative international sources and cross-references with real expat community reports. All data is reviewed and updated at least annually, with major updates in May 2026.
